Croson and Blick Propose Local Public Safety Ordinance for Warren Township

Dan Croson and Lance Blick, Republican candidates for Warren Township Committee, have announced a proposal for a new public safety ordinance aimed at protecting residents from potential intrusions onto private property. If elected, Croson and Blick plan to introduce an ordinance that would make attempted home and car break-ins a municipal offense - allowing local law enforcement and the municipal prosecutor to charge individuals in municipal court.

The proposed ordinance comes in response to recent changes in state policy that have created challenges for local law enforcement in maintaining public safety. Currently, attempted burglaries are a violation of state law, meaning the jurisdiction to prosecute lies solely with the county. Over the last several years, county prosecutors across the state and country have routinely declined to pursue such cases and subsequently, have contributed to a rise in the number of repeat offenders.

Similar measures have recently been passed in neighboring communities, such as Bernards and Summit. Blick and Croson believe that adopting such a policy in Warren will serve as a proactive step toward ensuring the safety and security of its residents and will give local law enforcement the tools needed to keep residents safe.

"We are committed to prioritizing the safety and security of Warren Township residents," stated Blick. "This ordinance will provide our community with the necessary protections against unwanted intrusions onto private property."

Under the proposed ordinance, individuals caught attempting to open car or house doors on private property without authorization could face fines and potential jail time through the municipal court system. Blick and Croson assert that this measure will act as a deterrent against potential intruders and will empower law enforcement to effectively address such incidents.

Croson added, "Warren is one of the safest towns in New Jersey and it didn’t happen by accident - it happened because of the proactive, dynamic leadership of our local police officers. If elected, Lance and I will do everything possible to support our law enforcement and send a clear message that criminal activity will not be tolerated in Warren Township.”

Blick and Croson Pledge Increased Investment in Warren Township Road Paving Program

As part of their platform in the race for Warren Township Committee, Republican candidates Lance Blick and Dan Croson have announced their commitment to expand the town's road paving program.

While significant progress has been made in recent years, Croson and Blick emphasize that more must be done to upgrade Warren’s infrastructure. This means prioritizing the improvement of the town's road network to ensure safer and smoother travel for all residents and addressing critical areas that require attention.

"Our Department of Public Works does a tremendous job and has been working tirelessly to patch, repair, and repave our local roads," stated Blick. "However, given Warren’s expansive area of 19.5 square miles and the increase in daily traffic counts that has accompanied the new residential developments, we must allocate additional resources to our overlay program.”

Croson echoed Blick's sentiments, adding, "Investing in our roads is a direct investment in the safety and quality of life for all residents. Through the budgeting process, Lance and I will work alongside DPW to ensure they have what they need to increase the number of streets paved annually.”

Additionally, Croson and Blick have called on the Somerset County Board of Commissioners to allocate additional resources towards paving more county roads within Warren Township. By working collaboratively with county officials, they aim to extend their efforts beyond what is under direct township control, ensuring that all residents benefit from enhanced road infrastructure.

Dan Croson and Lance Blick Announce Support for Public but Privately Funded Recreation Center

Dan Croson and Lance Blick, Republican candidates for Warren Township Committee, have announced their support for the creation of a public recreation center. While the idea of a recreation center has been proposed several times since the late 90’s, Croson and Blick believe the growing population and new development in Warren have made the project imperative.

The proposal for the recreation center comes in response to the growing need for accessible and diverse recreational opportunities for residents of all ages in Warren Township. Croson and Blick envision a modern facility that will serve to foster a healthy and connected community and is developed via a public-private partnership between the Township and corporate sponsors.

"The establishment of a recreation center in Warren Township is not just about building a physical structure; it's about investing in the future of our community," said Croson. "We believe that providing ample recreational opportunities is essential for promoting physical health, social cohesion, and overall well-being among our residents."

Blick added, "By partnering with local businesses and corporate sponsors, we can leverage resources and to develop a state-of-the-art facility that meets the diverse needs of our residents without placing any financial burden on taxpayers.”

Croson added, “We call on the governing body to create a committee to investigate the proper way to go about setting a governance structure that will lead to the realization of a recreation center at the soonest possible timeframe.” Croson and Blick are running for Republican Township Committee and have been endorsed by the Warren Republican Party, Mayor Vic Sordillo, deputy Mayor Lisa Lontai and Committeeman George Lazo.

Croson and Blick Call for Increased Police Patrols and Start a Neighborhood Watch Program in Warren

Lance Blick and Daniel Croson, endorsed by the Republican Party as candidates for the Warren Township Committee, have announced their commitment to initiate and support the establishment of an official Neighborhood Watch program in Warren. The initiative responds to the township's unique challenge posed by its three major interstate intersections, which, while facilitating access, also increase the vulnerability of its residents to criminal activities. The easy access provided by these highways has been identified as a contributing factor to the likelihood of thefts and burglaries within the community.

Blick emphasized the necessity for organizational measures in addressing these concerns, stating, "Given Warren Township's expansive area of 19.5 square miles, it is imperative that we bolster our local police patrols. However, to achieve comprehensive crime stopping coverage of Warren on a consistent basis is beyond our local law enforcement capabilities without our help. Therefore, the establishment of a Neighborhood Watch program has become essential."

Croson added, "The implementation of a Neighborhood Watch program, one that is endorsed by the National Sheriff’s Association, represents a significant step towards not only enhancing the sense of security among the residents of Warren but also in materially safeguarding their homes."

He further elaborated on the operational aspects of the program, indicating plans to develop necessary materials and coordinate with local law enforcement agencies to ensure the effective commencement of this safety initiative. Croson highlighted the anticipated benefits of increased community vigilance, suggesting a substantial impact on the township's security.

Blick reinforced this sentiment, urging community members interested in contributing to the program to make contact via phone or email. The strategy involves organizing neighborhoods in alignment with best practices provided by the National Sheriff’s Association, in partnership with local law enforcement.

Daniel Croson and Lance Blick, who are vying for seats on the Warren Township Committee in the Republican Primary, have received the endorsement of both the local Warren Republicans and the Somerset County Republican Organization, underscoring their commitment to enhancing public safety and community well-being in Warren.
